A Small Change to HistoryGoneBananas
Why fewer articles will mean deeper, better history going forward
Over the past few months, HistoryGoneBananas has been publishing daily.
Some of you joined for the stories.
Some stayed for the analysis.
And a few of you supported this project because you wanted something deeper than headlines and timelines.
After giving this some real thought, I’m making a small but important change.
Starting February, HistoryGoneBananas will move from daily posts to 2–3 articles per week.
One of these will be a paid deep dive.
The rest will remain free and accessible to everyone.
Why the change?
Daily history content is easy to produce — and just as easy to forget.
But history that explains power, money, decisions, and consequences takes time to do properly.
Publishing less often means:
deeper research
clearer arguments
stronger storytelling
and pieces that are actually worth revisiting
This isn’t less HistoryGoneBananas.
It’s better HistoryGoneBananas.
If you’re a free reader, nothing disappears. You’ll still get regular essays and historical context — just without filler.
If you’re a paid subscriber: thank you. Your support allows me to focus on fewer, stronger pieces — the kind that connect history to the world we’re living in now.
HistoryGoneBananas was never meant to be a feed.
It’s meant to be a place to think.
February starts that next phase.
